About Jim Mattheson

Jim Matheson is the executive director at the National Bison Association, where he leads a small but dedicated staff of bison experts to execute the association’s goals and objectives and work towards its mission to bring together stakeholders to celebrate the heritage of American bison, to educate, and to create a sustainable future for our industry. He’s been with the NBA for 18 years. Matheson has worked in sustainable agriculture for nearly 30 years, starting as a farm laborer on organic farms in Montana and Vermont, and as an agriculture-development volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps where he served in Moldova. He has worked in a variety of agricultural sectors both domestically and abroad including organic produce, viticulture and bison production. He lives in Morrison, Colorado with his wife and two children.
